Bicycling in Bali

In Bali, the pushbike was the established form of transport long before motorbike and cars. Look around and you will see middle aged women with ultra straight backs, taking things slowly on upright old boneshakers while carrying a 10 kilo bag of rice on their heads. Mobile shops on two wheels shell everything from ice creams and street food to doormats, brushes, brooms, beach balls, caged birds and goldfish in plastic bags; the bicycle barely visible under the volume of the wares. Hoards of impeccably dressed school children make their way to and from their lessons by bike, and in the countryside you will spot ancient bicycles without any brakes slung beneath trees, their panniers full of freshly picked green crops.

The Bali Villa M offers the complimentary facility of well maintained, high standard mountain bikes for guest use. The private Bali Villa is located in a gorgeous rural area close to the traditional village of Umalas where the flat roads are ideal for cycling. If you fell like taking some gentle exercise while viewing traditional life of Bali this is the ideal way to do it.  The main roads of Bali can be congested, so stick to the quieter country roads and enjoy a bike ride through the rice fields or to the beach; the helpful staff at Villa M in Bali will be happy to point you in the right direction. The remarkable thing is that when you are actually pedalling, you don’t feel the heat, just a cool and pleasant self created breeze.

Enjoy the many beautiful opportunities open to you when you stay at the Villa M, one of the best private villas in Bali.
